I get frustrated when I hear HR pros talk about “the seat at the table.” Not because its an outdated term (it is) but because I believe HR can have an impact regardless where we are seated. If we are stuck in the bowels of payroll hell, you can positively impact someones life by being nice and helpful when you answer the phone. Imagine if you called the DMV and actually spoke with someone who was nice?!
Earth shattering right? That’s the affect that a positive person can have…you can brighten someone’s day just with a few words and a smile.
So lets take it one step further and apply this to the bigger issues in HR: transparency, equality and diversity to name a few. HR can have a huge, positive impact on the people in our organizations just through our everyday actions. At least that’s what I think and I wrote about it over on PIC this week. Here’s a quick snippet:
